Every child grows up with a love for pop tarts. Well, maybe that isn’t true, but a lot of kids most definitely do. There is something about a gooey, sugary, chemically induced treat that gets all kids going in the morning. Once you reach a certain age you come to realize that these tasty treats aren’t so good for you after all. While I was looking at one of my favorite cooking blogs, Smitten Kitchen, I found the most amazing recipe for homemade pop tarts, what could be better?! After work I raced home so I could start baking these delicious treats. Now I am going to be honest with all of you: these did not come out how I planned. They were more like a scone- like pastry rather than a pop tart. I just keep reminding myself that this was my first time trying these, and I need a few practice rounds until I get my perfect batch. I did want you guys to check out the recipe, because even though they didn’t come out like a pop tart, I never said they weren’t tasty! Check out Smitten Kitchen, to get the full scoop on how to make these babies!
