Every child grows up with a love for pop tarts. Well, maybe that isn’t true, but a lot of kids most definitely do. There is something about a gooey, sugary, chemically induced treat that gets all kids going in the morning. Once you reach a certain age you come to realize that these tasty treats aren’t so good for you after all. While I was looking at one of my favorite cooking blogs, Smitten Kitchen, I found the most amazing recipe for homemade pop tarts, what could be better?! After work I raced home so I could start baking these delicious treats. Now I am going to be honest with all of you: these did not come out how I planned. They were more like a scone- like pastry rather than a pop tart. I just keep reminding myself that this was my first time trying these, and I need a few practice rounds until I get my perfect batch. I did want you guys to check out the recipe, because even though they didn’t come out like a pop tart, I never said they weren’t tasty! Check out Smitten Kitchen, to get the full scoop on how to make these babies!
Inspiration of the day: “I adore wearing gems, but not because they are mine. You can’t possess radiance, you can only admire it.”- Elizabeth Taylor
The chunky flower necklace, paired with the pinky-purple nail polish, with the sparkly chain bag and the flower headband screams girly. The studs on both the belt and shoes helps to keep this look balanced from head to toe. What does that give us? Neutral tones with girly accents, mixed with some edge, is the winning combo that makes up the perfect Spring outfit.
When Spring finally rolls around I look forward to two things: sunshine and beautiful flowers. I have made a promise to myself that I would take advantage of all of the gorgeous flowers that are sold at the farmer’s market, because they always seem to brighten up a household. I will admit that living in your own apartment, without your parents can be tricky at times. The refrigerator is never stocked full, there are no weekly cleaners, and you have minimal glass wear that always seems to be mismatched. When I come home with a bouquet of flowers I obviously want to have a nice vase to put them in. Sadly, I only have one vase that doesn’t fit many flowers, so guess where the rest go? Keep guessing… Yes, I am that ashamed to say that they go into one of the mismatched cups that I have. I am on the lookout for some fabulous, fun vases that are different. I found a great retro turquoise one on Ebay, that I feel has to be added to my very small collection. Turquoise is a very cheerful color, and it would go great in my room with my new bedding.
