The Met

{dress, jacket, bag & sunnies: vintage shoes: river island necklace: kate spade belt: urban}

One of the main reasons we decided to make a quick trip to the east coast was because I was dying to see the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met. Words can’t describe how spectacular it truly was you really just have to see it for yourself (if you can, I highly recommend it). I laid out my outfits for the weekend prior to leaving so I wouldn’t have to take any extra unnecessary time to get ready, especially since we were on such a tight schedule. I knew I wanted to wear this pleated white 20’s-esque dress with an over sized jacket and necklace to the exhibit for its comfort, uniqueness and versatility for when I was shopping (always thinking ahead)! New York tends to have sticky humid weather during the Summer and this flowy dress was a great option to minimize discomfort.

Family Gems

Whenever I go back east to visit family one of my favorite things to do is dig through old things that belonged to my grandparents, parents, aunts & uncles. There never seems to be enough time to even make a dent in the boxes and piles of old treasures of things that I want/hope to be able to hold onto. Despite the fact that I only had a few days I still ended up coming home with a considerable amount of goodies. My grandma let me take an old bangle, purse, some of her gorgeous old hats and my grandpa’s sunhat. My aunt brought by a stack of vintage dresses in pastel hues that made my heart skip a few beats. I am so excited to put outfits together (photos to come soon) but in the meantime I wanted to share some pictures of the newest additions to my closet that are incredibly special to me.

Summer Sherbet

{pants & bow: aa top, sunnies, belt, clutch jewels: vintage cardigan: jcrew shoes: river island bracelet: betsey johnson}

These pants were perfect for the humid weather over the weekend because they were light, comfortable and the peachy color was exceptionally cheery. The blouse I wore with it was a new purchase from my all time favorite online vintage shop, The Fancy Treehouse and I thought it went perfectly with my peach colored pants (almost anything goes with a light peach color). I pretty much lived in these shoes over the weekend; they went with everything I packed, gave me a little extra height and were unbelievably comfortable. I loved this outfit all for the colors… it reminded me of a bowl of sherbet, and we all know how much I love my treats!
